and Dyslexia Clinic assessments, and can be used to help determine the service best suited to your needs.

What are my main reasons for assessment?
Comprehensive Neurodevelopmental Assessments
One (or more) areas of concern, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Learning/cognitive skills (e.g. thinking, problem-solving, memory, processing)
- Academic achievement
- Communication
- Social skills
- Daily living skills/independence
- Executive functioning (e.g. planning, organisation, attention, motivation)
- Mental health (anxiety, depression, trauma)
- Functional assessments (i.e. NDIS)
- School readiness
- Vocational assessments
Dyslexia Clinic Assessments
One (or more) areas of academic concern, including:
- Reading
- Writing
- Mathematics
What will happen if additional areas for investigation are identified during the assessment?
Comprehensive Neurodevelopmental Assessments
- If needed, the areas above are included within the cost of the comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessment.
- Your psychologist will make an assessment plan following the intake interview, and they will discuss any recommended changes with you where it is applicable and adjust assessment processes accordingly.
- Additional medical and/or allied health assessments may be recommended as part of a multidisciplinary diagnostic process (e.g., paediatrician, psychiatrist, speech pathologist,
occupational therapist). Referral options are often available upon request.
Dyslexia Clinic Assessments
- If it is determined throughout the assessment that other areas (e.g., attention) should be further explored, this will be recommended to you.
- Additional psychology, medical and/or allied health assessments may be recommended. Referral options are often available upon request.
- Follow up assessments can be booked through Raise the Bar Psychology and will incur an
additional cost. You may need
to wait for future appointment
times to become available,
based on your clinician’s
availability.
What kind of cognitive assessment do I need?
Comprehensive Neurodevelopmental Assessments
- Extensive learning assessment
- Aims to identify a very comprehensive profile of cognitive and academic strengths and challenges
Dyslexia Clinic Assessments
- Thorough, but not exhaustive, cognitive assessment
- Aims to identify overall intelligence and key cognitive processing skills important for literacy and numeracy development
What diagnosis might be made following this assessment?
Comprehensive Neurodevelopmental Assessments
- Global developmental delay
- Intellectual developmental disorder
- Giftedness/high cognitive potential

Dyslexia Clinic Assessments
- Specific Learning Disorder in Reading (dyslexia), Written Expression (dysgraphia) and/or Mathematics (dyscalculia)
How much time is typically included in the assessment?
Comprehensive Neurodevelopmental Assessments
- 60-minute intake and feedback meetings
- Variable assessment time, based on areas to be assessed (most commonly 4-6 hours)
- Child feedback session
Dyslexia Clinic Assessments
- 30-minute intake and feedback meetings
- Up to 4 hours of assessment time (depending on academic area/s assessed)
- Child feedback session can be provided at an additional cost
How long will the whole assessment take, from start to finish?
Comprehensive Neurodevelopmental Assessments
- Typically 6 weeks minimum, from intake to feedback, including up to 3-4 weeks report writing following the completion of assessment sessions
Dyslexia Clinic Assessments
- Typically 3 weeks from intake to feedback, including 1 week report writing following the completion of assessment sessions

Who is this type of assessment best for?
Comprehensive Neurodevelopmental Assessments
- Individuals aged 2 – adult
- Those who would like to explore a range of neurodevelopmental concerns/differences and mental health challenges that tend to co-occur
Dyslexia Clinic Assessments
- Individuals aged 5 – adult, preferably with at least 6 months of prior intervention targeting their academic area/s of difficulty
- Those with key difficulties in literacy and/or numeracy, without significant concerns about social, emotional or behavioural development
