We provide comprehensive evaluations for children designed to help you understand your child’s neurotype and identify the most appropriate supports. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, you can choose from a diverse range of assessment packages to meet your specific needs.
Because we recognise that not every journey requires a formal label, our Non-Diagnostic and Functional Assessments focus on identifying an individual’s unique strengths and support needs across home and education/work settings.
Our goal is to bridge the gap between “knowing” and “doing,” providing the clarity you need to leverage your skills and raise the bar for your child’s future.
Preschool and early primary developmental assessments
Cost: 1-3 x 50min sessions @ $290 per session
Our Preschool and Early Primary Developmental Assessment is a proactive pathway designed to identify emerging developmental, learning, or behavioural differences. By gaining early insights into your child’s unique profile, we can implement the right supports at the right time—ensuring children thrive during their crucial preschool and early primary school years.

It provides the clarity needed to decide on next steps, whether that involves immediate intervention or planning for future diagnostic assessment.

Our Flexible Assessment Journey
We don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Our assessment framework is built as a series of sessions, allowing us to pivot based on your child’s needs and your family’s priorities. You have the flexibility to decide how far we go based on the insights you are looking for.
- Initial Consultation (50 mins): After completing a detailed background form and behavioural screening measure, you’ll meet with one of our psychologists to discuss your child’s strengths, differences, and the specific challenges you are noticing.
- Subsequent Consultation & Collaborative Planning (50 mins): For families wanting a deeper understanding of "the why" behind certain behaviors and assessment of their child’s functional needs across environments, we gather additional information from both parents and teachers via targeted questionnaires. During a subsequent consultation with the psychologist, all results are discussed to collaboratively create a tailored support plan.
- Optional observation (50 min): For families requiring an additional lens on their child to inform inclusion supports in educational settings, we provide the option of a kindergarten/school observation between the initial and subsequent consultations. *Travel fees apply
Wherever you choose to conclude in your assessment journey, we provide a Written Summary of our clinical discussion, assessment results and recommended next steps, providing formal documentation of support needs that can be shared with schools or other health professionals.
Autism Assessment
Cost: $3,255
Cost (without cognitive assessment): $2,790
RBP’s Autism Assessment is designed to uncover unique strengths, differences and challenges, how your child’s brain learns best, and whether they require particular support or adjustments at home and school. An autism assessment is appropriate for children who experience some or all of the following:
- Difficulty reading social cues, maintaining eye contact, or building friendships
- High distress with change, a strict reliance on routines, or repetitive movements/speech
- Over- or under-sensitivity to sounds, lights, textures or smells
- Intense, narrow fixations that dominate daily life
- Delayed speech, atypical language patterns, or difficulty with two-way conversation
- Persistent challenges managing school, work, or home life
A typical assessment will include:
- Extensive review of prior testing and developmental / academic / vocational history
- Intake session to discuss assessment goals and relevant background
- 3 to 4 hours of testing, tailored to individual needs and assessment goals. This usually includes a combination of in clinic appointments for administration of standardised tests (including a cognitive assessment) and online in depth clinical interviews)
- Phone calls to teachers, medical professionals and allied health practitioners to gather relevant background information, as appropriate
- Feedback session to discuss results and recommendations
- Comprehensive report detailing individual strengths, difficulties, diagnoses (if appropriate), and detailed recommendations
- Access to RBP’s Post Assessment “Now what” group information sessions

Standard Assessment Package
Cost: $2,030
The RBP Standard Assessment Package is most appropriate for clients who have more specific assessment concerns or goals, or clients who have already had some testing completed.
Specific concerns or goals may include:
- Intellectual Development Disorder
- School readiness / preparedness / early entry
- Giftedness / high cognitive or academic ability
A typical assessment will include:
- Extensive review of prior testing and developmental / academic / vocational history
- Intake session to discuss assessment goals and relevant background
- 2 to 3 hours of testing, tailored to individual needs and assessment goals. This usually includes a combination of in clinic appointments for administration of standardised tests and online in depth clinical interviews
- Phone calls to teachers, medical professionals and allied health practitioners to gather relevant background information, as appropriate
- Feedback session to discuss results and recommendations
- Comprehensive report detailing individual strengths, difficulties, diagnoses (if appropriate), and detailed recommendations

How can a standard learning assessment help?
This assessment is designed to provide targeted, cost-effective clarity for clients with highly specific questions or those who already have existing diagnostic information, allowing for:
- streamlined assessment to directly address the specific referral question, avoiding unnecessary testing
- integration of new, focused data with the client's prior testing results, filling in critical diagnostic gaps without repeating comprehensive batteries
- decisions regarding focused interventions, educational placements (e.g., gifted programs, special education), or determining school readiness)
Cognitive / Intellectual Assessment
Cost: $1,200
RBP’s Cognitive Assessment (often referred to as an IQ or Intelligence test) provides a comprehensive profile of an individual’s thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
By identifying specific cognitive strengths and vulnerabilities, we help uncover why a person may be thriving in some areas while struggling in others. This assessment is an essential tool for tailoring educational support, workplace adjustments, or personal development strategies.
This assessment is ideal for those who:
- Seek to understand whether cognitive challenges are impacting their learning, achievement or workplace performance
- Require a cognitive assessment as part of a broader multidisciplinary assessment
- Need a reassessment of their cognitive abilities to provide updated information about cognitive functioning
What We Measure
- Verbal Reasoning: The ability to understand, use, and think with spoken language.
- Visual-Spatial Processing: Understanding visual patterns and relationships.
- Fluid Reasoning: The capacity to solve novel problems and think logically.
- Working Memory: The ability to hold and manipulate information in mind.
- Processing Speed: The efficiency with which the brain performs simple or repetitive tasks.

Functional Capacity Assessment
Cost: $2,330
RBP’s Functional Capacity Assessment provides understanding regarding an individual’s unique strengths and support needs across home and education/work settings. Tailored to each individual, this assessment includes any/all of the following:
- Assessment of cognitive ability to provide understanding of capacity for processing information, learning, remembering, and applying knowledge to complete everyday tasks and activities, including participation in education or employment
- Assessment of adaptive functioning skills such as
- Communication: capacity for expressing oneself and understanding others, whether through speech, writing, or other methods
- Socialisation: capacity for engaging in social activities and maintaining relationships
- Emotional regulation: capacity for managing and responding to one’s emotions that allows for effective functioning in daily life
- Daily living skills: such as dressing, eating and acting safely
- Clinical observation in educational or clinical setting to gain understanding of support needs across home and education settings
The FCA is a thorough process designed to capture a "whole-of-life" view. A typical assessment includes:
- Initial Intake (60 mins): A dedicated session to discuss assessment goals and relevant background information.
- Core Assessment (2.5 hours): Tailored evaluation that may include in-clinic appointments, online interviews, and observations in a kindergarten, school, or community setting (travel fees may apply).
- Feedback Session (60 mins): A detailed discussion of the findings, providing clarity on the individual’s functional profile and recommended next steps.
- Consultation with therapists, educators or paediatricians (if relevant)

The RBP Functional Capacity Report
The outcome of this process is a comprehensive Functional Capacity Report. This document is designed to be a powerful advocacy tool, outlining:
- Individual strengths and specific support requirements.
- Evidence of functional impact across all major life domains.
- Detailed, evidence-based recommendations for therapy, environmental modifications, and necessary supports.
